Does anyone use uncensored models purely for coding?

It sounds like a stupid question, and I do apologize if it is... but I've seen several people mention that coding models are better uncensored due to the fact that they don't have to constantly run prompts through the "is this okay" sort of checks. And more importantly, does anyone have any sources to confirm it?

Huawei plans Q1 2027 launch of new AI chip as it takes on Nvidia

Huawei is moving up the launch of its next-generation Ascend 960DT AI chip to the first quarter of 2027, as it races to challenge Nvidia, the company said on Thursday at its Huawei Connect conference. The Chinese tech giant had previously planned to launch the chip in Q3 of 2027, a Huawei spokesperson told TechCrunch. “The Ascend 960DT is expected to be ready in Q1 2027.

Google, Nvidia, and Anthropic want Emerald AI to find space on the grid for more data centers

Grid software unicorn Emerald AI has formed a coalition with Google and Nvidia that will use the startup’s technology to secure space on the grid for more data centers. The AI Energy Management Alliance (AEMA) hopes to make demand response — a paradigm in which data centers temporarily reduce their electricity use — an integral part of data center development. Pausing noncritical tasks and shifting some compute loads, AEMA says, could allow an additional 100 gigawatts of data centers to connect to the grid.

Claude merges Cowork and chat into one experience

Anthropic is merging Claude Cowork and standard chat into one Claude experience, ending the need to choose between a quick conversation and a larger delegated task. From the same thread, users can ask a question, hand off extended work, and let Claude continue after their laptop is closed. The rollout is reaching new and existing Pro and Max subscribers across web, desktop, and mobile over the coming weeks.

What if consciousness is a spectrum, not an on/off state? Why wouldn’t AI be conscious in some form?

What if consciousness is a spectrum, not an on/off state? Why wouldn’t AI be conscious in some form?

I have been thinking a lot about theories of consciousness lately, and one idea that makes intuitive sense to me is that "the amount of active, interconnected complexity within a given physical space may determine the level of consciousness." I don't think something is simply either "conscious" or "not conscious". I suspect consciousness exists on a sliding scale. As a very simplified model: CD = I / V, where CD is consciousness density, I is active interconnected information or complexity, and V is physical volume, for example measured in mm³.

ICYMI: TypeSafe AI launches Jev for structured AI decisions

TypeSafe AI has emerged from two years of stealth with Jev, its first System One Model, now entering early access as developers are brought off the waitlist. The company positions the model as a fast decision layer for software, trading open-ended text generation for predefined, typed outputs that applications can consume directly. After co-inventing ChatGPT, I kept asking myself: why have superhuman chat models not led to AGI?I’ve spent the last 2 years in stealth building a new way to train models (RLCD), and a new type of frontier AI model that we are releasing today: Jev• 20-200x faster• 40-400x… pic.twitter.com/JSybNG2BKJ Jev accepts unstructured context, including text and structured program state, then returns probabilistic decisions with confidence scores.

4-AI relay: ChatGPT drafted, Muse reviewed, Grok and Claude checked the work — every step in the open

Wanted to see what happens when you give four different models distinct jobs on the same task instead of asking one AI to do everything. The setup: ChatGPT drafted, Muse reviewed and sent it back for one revision, Grok did a fresh-eyes pass, Claude did the final review. I carried all 8 handoffs between them manually — about an hour total, including one where I pasted the message into the wrong AI and got caught.

Qwen Next 3.8 / Claude Opus level local model - What to buy in order to deploy?

This is a post asking for advice / user experience. The goal is simple: deploy a small private server for a developer to run a harness that rivals/beats Claude Opus (in perf/intelligence, not necessarily speed). I believe the model to target is a Q3 or so version of the Qwen 3.8 Next model, and to build a dual GPU, 64GB setup.

Whats the best way to build a training coach?

I know AI isn’t a replacement for a good coach, but I’m trying to figure out how close I can realistically get to using GPT as a long-term adaptive training coach. I competed in CrossFit for about 12 years and have a substantial amount of experience with programming and training. I also have years of my own programming available, plus research and information on the specific areas I’m currently trying to develop.

I literally built the Jev architecture one year back and completely open-sourced it with model, dataset and paper

Everyone now talks about the architecture that's not auto regressive and does lightning fast probability prediction with a json schema. I worked on this literally one year back in March 2025, published an arxiv paper, pushed the model to huggingface along with the pypi package and training dataset. And then one year later, a frontier lab came, proposing the same idea like literal breakthrough without technical papers, open weights and no open dataset.

Snap tries to make the case again for its $2,200 smart glasses

When Snap debuted its long-awaited smart glasses, Specs, earlier this year, the reveal was not only underwhelming but also a genuine disaster. The glasses — which cost a whopping $2,200 and are vaguely reminiscent of scuba gear — inspired jeers online and calls for the company’s CEO, Evan Spiegel, to resign. The company’s stock subsequently nosedived.

Al Gore says the real AI risk isn’t data centers

Al Gore has spent more than two decades as one of the most recognizable voices in the climate movement, so when he talks about AI, it’s worth paying attention to what he considers truly scary. And it isn’t what has people protesting data centers in the streets. In an interview with TechCrunch this week alongside Lila Preston, head of growth equity at their investment firm Generation Investment Management, Gore said emissions from AI data centers aren’t what should keep people up at night, despite the mounting opposition over their environmental impacts.
